Dr. Elizabeth Yahn Williams is an award-winning poet-and playwright. She obtained a scholarship to attend Marymount College, PVE, (now LMU), from which she graduated cum laude, and subsequently received a Ford Foundation grant to join a pilot program at UCLA, earning a lifetime California Secondary Teaching credential. She also became a leader in the struggle against gender discrimination. She mentors honor students at Mira Costa College and was made a "Most Distinguished Honorary" life member of their Phi Theta Kappa chapter.
Dr. Robert Lundy has had his share of original intentions leading in unanticipated directions. Changing campuses of the University of California as an undergraduate to pursue a major in Chemical Engineering, he emerged from UC Santa Barbara with an individual major in Human Ecology instead. On discovering that environmentalists were for all practical purposes unemployable at the Bachelor's level, he went to graduate school at U. C. Berkeley. After earning a Ph.D. in Demography, he went to work for Argonne National Laboratory as a Demographer and Epidemiologist.
