Editor's comment: We have had two elections for president stolen from us already. This could fill us with impending doom that it could happen to us again, this time on Gay Marriage rights.
Our opponents are cunning, they are ruthless, and they are driven by the gods of hate whispering in their ear. The only thing worse than losing is to think that you're going to win and then lose. But this time it is the opposition that will lose, if not this time, then the next, or the time after that. They know that. "MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN" read the prophetic words on the great wall of freedom. Words written by a mysterious hand on the wall of Belshazzar's palace, and interpreted by Daniel as predicting the doom of the king and his dynasty.
The regressive forces are agitated, fearful a pillar holding up their temple of power is about to crumble. They are hyperventilating with pontification and condemnation. But we must not allow ourselves to be drawn into their black hole. Do not listen to the voices of hate.
Because this time WE are the driven ones and we take the high road. We go beyond hope. We are in this battle because we love. In time they shall come to understand that full marriage rights for the gay citizens does not diminish their own marriages. Rather, our nation as a whole is strengthened by the universal extension of rights to all citizens.
We will not stop ...
... until we win the full right to citizenship, and the right to marry the one we love and to whom we want to make a lifetime commitment of support.
"We shall overcome!"
