At 7:00PM we will screen (by contract with the film's distributor) the exciting documentary "JESUS CAMP" featuring disgraced former US Congressman and meth-head Reverend Ted Haggard. The film is a
disquieting look at the intense training system that recruits born-again Christian youth to become an active part of America's political future. You will be shocked and awed by what you see, and will come away with a new awareness of what concerned Americans are up against.

This controversial documentary follows children at an Evangelical summer camp, as they hone their prophetic gifts and are schooled in how to "take back America for Christ."

The film focuses on an evangelical Christian camp of rare devotion. Twelve-year-old Levi, who was "saved" when he was five, is a shy boy except when he is filled with the Holy Spirit. Nine-year-old Rachael is outspoken in her love for the Lord. They are home-schooled by their Christian parents
and interact with their peers at church and church events. In the summer they travel to Becky Fischer's "Kids on Fire" summer camp in Devil's Lake, North Dakota, to intensify their devotion to the Lord.

From the SF Bay Guardian: "Fascinated disgust and aghast amusement are two feelings I don't experience often enough. Jesus Camp elicits both in spades. This doc by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady (The Boys of Baraka) travels into the darkest heart of America's evangelical Christian movement: a North Dakota summer camp that whips born-again children, most already home schooled into such beliefs as the nonexistence of evolution and global warming, into religious frenzies. Tongues are spoken. Pint-size preachers take the stage."
