6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Fallbrook Public Library - Community Room Fallbrook Library and Fallbrook's Writers Read are pleased to announce a new literary partnership, with the purpose of providing free author readings to the community and open mic opportunities for original poetry and prose. The partnership represents an expansion of an existing series of monthly readings that will now be called Writers Read at Fallbrook Library. The first reading will be Tuesday, July 9, in the library's Community Room, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. -- July 9: Marivi Soliven, the debut author of The Mango Bride, a novel described by publisher Penguin as, "Two women, two cultures, and the fight to find a new life in America, despite the secrets of the past." According to Kit-Bacon Gressitt, the readings' organizer, "We've been meeting at the Café des Artistes for four-and-a-half years, and owner Michael Calvanese has been a fabulous supporter of the literary arts. We're grateful that he gave us a home for so long. And now we're excited to be moving into the beautiful environment of the library. We'll have a larger space and be able to introduce more readers to some wonderfully-gifted writers." Fallbrook Library, a branch of the San Diego County Library system, has planned to expand its existing author readings into a regular series, and Writers Read provides an established vehicle for doing so. "The Fallbrook Library, our staff and our readers are eagerly looking forward to this addition to our library programs" said Girija Karamcheti, adult services librarian. "We are especially thrilled that our regional literary talent in San Diego County will be showcased. It provides the library the opportunity to partner with an organization that successfully highlights the literary talents of local community members. We are delighted to welcome Writer's Read at Fallbrook Library as our partner." NEW TIMES: Beginning in July, Writers Read will be the second Tuesday of each month, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Featured authors include regionally, nationally and internationally renowned authors of fiction, nonfiction and poetry. The readings’ format will remain as it has been in the past: public participation in open mic for original poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction, followed by a featured author presentation and book signing.
