VET for PEACE: No war in Ukraine or on Russia Article Statement from Vets for Peace: -- "Right-wing militarists in the U.S. are calling for U.S. troops in Ukraine, while President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry implement economic warfare ("sanctions") and institute a renewed policy of isolating and "containing" Russia, aka Cold War II. -- What we are seeing in Ukraine is a classic example of covert U.S. intervention and "regime change" very similar to current goings-on in Venezuela, where the U.S. government is supporting street violence aimed at overthrowing another democratically elected government. Whether or not U.S. and Russian leaders intend it, this covert war threatens to become an overt war with every rhetorical, economic and military escalation."
Anti-Drone Days - ACTIONS in May 15,16, 17 News Join us in San Diego, May 15, 16 and 17, 2014 for action and education against US global drone wars, drones violating civil liberties, and the US "pivot to the Pacific" -- San Diego continues to be the US capital of spy and killer drone production. Stand Up and Speak Out!
Lets be Fair to Russia and her People Article By Patrick Buchanan - Here we come to the heart of the matter as to why Americans want to stay out of any Ukrainian conflict. Americans not only see no vital U.S. interest, but also no moral dimension to this quarrel. -- If, after all, it was a triumph of self-determination for Ukraine to secede from the Russian Federation, do not Russians in Crimea and Donetsk have the same right — to secede from Kiev and go home to Russia?
A right wing intellectual sounds like Chris Hedges Article Occasionally a right wing ideologue sound remarkably like Chris Hedges, the paragon liberal ideologue. Here are excerpts of an essay by conservative Constutional lawyer, John W. Whitehead, on the latest Supreme Court decision, Hedges v. Obama. He presents facts pointing out that the United States has become a fascist police state. Consider this: The prison population in the United States has grown by 700% from 1970 thru 2010.

Intelligence chief in bald-faced lie to Congress
HE LIED to the nation! -- James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence (DNI) LIED to congress. Let me repeat that for you - he didn't "mislead" -- he LIED! Why he isn't under the jail? Congress impeached Pres. Bill Clinton for equivocating about a sexual dalliance, but Congress sucked up to James Clapper who outright lied about a grave criminal and unconstitutional policy.
Massive response to Elizabeth Warren's new book
Elizabeth Warren occupies a special space in American politics. Ironically, the first time she caught the attention of progressive and Democratic activists was when she courageously skewered a Democrat, Obama's first term Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, in a TARP oversight hearing. Her reputation for taking on anyone in either party who sides with the big Wall Street banks and other special interests squeezing the middle class and working poor is a big part of what gives the credibility to rally progressives out of their 2014 doldrums, and turn this campaign into a referendum on the wealthy special interests who are hurting the Main Street economy. Sen. Warren introducing emergency legislation ...
ELIZABETH WARREN: -- "Student loan debt is exploding. It is stopping young people from moving out of their parents’ homes, from saving for a down payment, buying homes, buying cars, starting small businesses, saving for retirement, or making purchases that grow our economy. It doesn’t have to be this way. This morning, two dozen Senators joined to introduce the #BankOnStudents Emergency Loan Refinancing Act, which would give student loan borrowers a #fairshot. The bill would allow them to lower their interest rates on old loans to match the rates that the government offers to new borrowers today. Watch my floor speech:"
Occupy woman jailed after NY cop assaulted her
>From DEMOCRACY NOW -- An Occupy Wall Street activist has been found guilty of assaulting a New York City police officer in a trial that critics say should have been about the police assaulting her. Cecily McMillan was arrested in March 2012 as protesters tried to re-occupy Zuccotti Park, six months after Occupy began. McMillan was convicted of deliberately striking officer Grantley Bovell with her elbow, leaving him with a black eye. McMillan says she swung her arm instinctively after being grabbed in the right breast from behind. To support this claim, defense lawyers showed photos of bruising to her chest during trial. In addition to her injuries, McMillan says she went into a seizure as officers pinned her down. She was later treated for post-traumatic stress disorder.
We will stop Fracking in California News Last year, under pressure from the oil industry, the California legislature failed to pass a moratorium on fracking. Since then, fracking has continued to expand in California, putting our communities, our water supply and the climate at risk. Just days ago Vermont became the first state to ban fracking statewide. Californa should have been first ... but we can be second.

PETITION: Investigate Darrell Issa News ISSA's so-called "IRS scandal" was a lie. Another politically motivated lie crafted in the dark and destructive mind of Rep. Darrell Issa. The IRS never targeted tea party groups, and IRS agents who were questioned in Issa's House Government Reform and Oversight Committee confirmed that fact. -- While this witch hunt was going on, Rep. Darrell Issa was raking in the dough. Sign this petition sponsored by Daily Kos:
China Admits: Fifth Of Its Farmland Contaminated News Unbridled industrialization with almost no environmental regulation has resulted in the toxic contamination of one-fifth of China's farmland, the Communist Party has acknowledged for the first time. -- The report, issued by the ministries of Environmental Protection and Land and Resources, says 16.1 percent of the country's soil in general and 19.4 percent of its farmland is polluted with toxic heavy metals such as cadmium, nickel and arsenic. In a dire assessment, the report declares: "The overall condition of the Chinese soil allows no optimism."

UC Davis Protestors Pepper Sprayed (raw footage)
You must not ever forget this incident at U.C. Davis: Police pepper spraying and arresting students at UC Davis. The militarization of our local police, the War on our Youth, the fascist oppression of peaceful assembly, protest and free speech in America. During peacefully Occupy Movement,(Nov. 2011) police came in to tear down tents and proceeded to arrest students who stood in their way. Once students peacefully demanded the release of the arrested, a police officer unnecessarily pepper sprays the students to open a path for the rest of the officers. -- The officer who sprayed the students was UC Davis Police Lt. John Pike. -- Notice all the other police just standing around watching, as if nothing abnormal or outrageous is happening. This is a day that will forever live in ignominy in America.
