This 'N That

When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others.
- Peace Pilgrim

The hottest fires in hell are reserved for those who remain neutral in times of moral crisis.
- Edmund Burke

He who can control his rising anger as a coachman controls his carriage at full speed, this man I call a good driver; others merely hold the reins.
- Gautama Buddha

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.
- Antoine de Saint-Exupery

One must care about a world one will never see.
- Bertrand Russell, 20th-century British mathematician and philosopher

When you're finally up on the moon, looking back at the earth, all these differences and nationalistic traits are pretty well going to blend and you're going to get a concept that maybe this is really one world and why the hell can't we learn to live together like decent people?
- Frank Borman

When someone steals another's clothes, we call them a thief. Should we not give the same name to one who could clothe the naked and does not? The bread in your cupboard belongs to the hungry; the coat unused in your closet belongs to the one who needs it; the shoes rotting in your closet belong to the one who has no shoes; the money which you hoard up belongs to the poor.
- Basil the Great

We may never be strong enough to be entirely nonviolent in thought, word and deed. But we must keep nonviolence as our goal and make strong progress towards it. The Attainment of freedom, whether for a person, a nation or a world, must be in exact proportion to the attainment of nonviolence for each.
- Mohandas Gandhi

The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil.
- Hannah Arendt, 20th-century German political philosopher and author

The world cannot continue to wage war like physical giants and to seek peace like intellectual pygmies
- Basil O'Connor

The absence of risk is a sure sign of mediocrity.
- Charles de Foucauld

Five enemies of peace inhabit with us--avarice, ambition, envy, anger, and pride; if these were to be banished, we should infallibly enjoy perpetual peace.
- Petrarch

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction.
- Albert Einstein

No one is so foolish as to prefer to peace, war, in which, instead of sons burying their fathers, fathers bury their sons.
- Croesus, King of Lydia, in Herodotus' The Persian Wars

If it were proved to me that in making war, my ideal had a chance of being realized, I would still say "No" to war. For one does not create human society on mounds of corpses.
- Louis Lecoin, French pacifist leader

All we ask, God, is to be safe from the rain, just warm enough in winter to watch the snow with a smile, have enough to eat so that our hunger will not turn us to angry beasts, and sanity enough to make justice that will not kill our love of life.
- Joseph Pinatauro

It's a bit embarrassing to have been concerned with the human problem all one's life and find at the end that one has no more to offer by way of advice than "try to be a little better."
- Aldous Huxley

If you succumb to the temptation of using violence in the struggle, unborn generations will be the recipients of a long and desolate night of bitterness, and your chief legacy to the future will be an endless reign of meaningless chaos.
- Martin Luther King Jr.

Dust turned to hope.
- Elie Weisel

I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones.
- John Cage

To save one life, it is as if you had saved the world.
- Talmud

In the twilight of life, God will not judge us on our earthly possessions and human success, but rather on how much we have loved.
- St. John of the Cross

Populist Rebellion That Tripped Up Larry Summers
News
The Larry Summers withdrawal as Obama's top pick to be the new Chairman of the Federal Reserve was a shocker. But it came with ponderous reasons. Summers is a Wall Street promoter and protector. Summers had to withdraw because of a Populist Rebellion in America. The message of the OCCUPY Movement still ricochets across this land.

Why the U.S. has worst, most expensive health care

Why America has the worst, most expensive health care of any "first world" nation. Very lucid explanation. His First 4 Sentences Are Interesting. The 5th Blew My Mind. And Made Me A Little Sick. "Profiteering off human death and suffering is their way of REDISTRIBUTING middle class wealth to corporate death panel middlemen who suck out not only dollars, but human lives."

Tame the NSA behemoth trampling our rights
Article
We now know that the intelligence establishment systematically undermines oversight by lying to both Congress and the courts. We know that the NSA infiltrates internet standard-setting processes to security protocols that make surveillance harder. We know that the NSA uses persuasion, subterfuge, and legal coercion to distort software and hardware product design by commercial companies. -- the NSA needs to be put into receivership. Insiders, beginning at the very top, need to be removed and excluded from the restructuring process. Their expertise led to this mess, and would be a hindrance, not a help, in cleaning it up.

The greatest boal lift in history: NYC on 9/11

The video you never saw: In over 11 years since this happened, this is the first time I've ever seen this...I don't even remember seeing/hearing about this evacuation on the news. The fact is, it was all done in 9 hours ... 500,000 people... This is a video well worth watching. The guy at the end (same guy who is at the beginning) has some great words to live by for all of us. Watch till the end. You won't regret it. Narrated by Tom Hanks. If you wish, please, pass this message along.

Syrian Woman Destroys McCain in Town Hall Meet

Christian Syrian Woman Destroys John McCain at Town Hall Meeting. The woman speaks about this, stating we can bring peace through shutting down Iran and Saudi Arabia. -- She also talks about how the Rebel forces are largely not even Syrians. These are foreign born members of Al Qaeda who have simply come to Syria as jihadists and these are the people we are supporting. -- John McCain acts as though he knows more about Syria then a woman who was born there and has family there. He is one of many senators who has seemingly lost all touch with reality. http://dcclothesline.com/2013/09/06/instant-youtube-classic-christian-syrian-woman-destroys-john-mccain-at-town-hall-meeting/

Manning Video:American troops slaughter civilians

Video depicts a US Apache attack helicopter killing 12 civilians and wounding two children on the ground in Baghdad in 2007. The helicopter then fired on and killed the people trying to rescue the wounded. Finally, a US tank drove over one of the bodies, cutting the man in half. These acts constitute three separate war crimes. All with calloused video-game contempt for human life. - Manning fulfilled his legal duty to report war crimes. He complied with his legal duty to obey lawful orders but also his legal duty to disobey unlawful orders. -- The Army covered up the evidence and declared the war crime "justified". Now they say that exposing the massacre is criminal.
