In the fact, I know of only two, loving friends and living dreams. These rewards are not so few it seems. - Anonymous The law of violence is not a law, but a simple fact which can only be a law when it does not meet with protest and opposition. I no longer believe that we can change anything in the world until we first change ourselves. And that seems to me the only lesson to be learned from this war. - Etty Hillesum (concentration camp victim) |

POLL: Dramatic Rise In Support for Gay Marriage News ABC NEWS - The Supreme Court has scheduled hearings on gay marriage next week (March 26-29), including challenges to a vote in California barring gay marriage, and to the federal Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as between a woman and a man, denying married gay and lesbian couples federal benefits given to married heterosexual couples. This poll suggests that the high court is the right place for it: Americans by nearly 2-l, 64-33 percent, say the legality of gay marriage "should be decided for all states on the basis of the U.S. Constitution" rather than by each state making its own law on the issue.
Effective terms to use instead of negative ones Article Choice of phrase and words rescue you from defensive traps and put the sword of the pen in your hand. EXAMPLE: Government Spending: (Also referred to as: Taxes, Burden, and Inconvenient) Conservatives talk about "government spending" like it's this awful thing, but the fact is, communities across America benefit from U.S. tax dollars, especially supposedly anti-government red states, which receive way more federal tax money than they contribute. Instead, try: Investing in America. Because, that's what our federal tax dollars do. They invest in education and infrastructure that wouldn't prove profitable for businesses, but which still benefit society in the long-run.

Israel Lobby Goading a Gullible America Into War Article "Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the mullahs, we are solemnly instructed, are religious fanatics who could easily opt for committing collective suicide should they get a bomb – by using that bomb on us.
-- This, of course, is to attribute to Iran's leaders an insanity they have never exhibited. Not in memory has Iran started a war. Saddam attacked Iran, not the other way around. ...according to all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies, Iran does not have a nuclear bomb program." -- [Iran (Persia) is a culture that has survived for thousands of years because it is rational and judicious.]
Fascist Capitalism has failed as economic model Article Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Cay Johnston.: - "From 1966 – when Lyndon Johnson was president -- to 2011, 45 years later, the bottom 90 percent of Americans' average income, as reported on tax returns, went up by a stunning $59 -- almost no change at all. If you measure that $59 increase for the vast majority of Americans as one inch, then on the same scale, the incomes of those in the top ten percent went up by 168 feet. The top one percent, 888 feet. The plutocrats -- the Mitt Romney crowd, the top one percent of the top one percent? Their incomes rose by almost five miles relative to that one inch."

We are witnessing the end of globalization
By Chris Hedges - Interview. Globalization simply does not work, except for the capitalist oligarchy -- the 1%. Occupy had it right (and still does) -- the target is Wall Street, which is the beast that controls governments around the world. It also destroys governments and societies around the world, turning people into commodities and serfs.
Is killing innocent people a war crime?
Williams pointed to comments by Professor Cornel West calling Obama a "war criminal." Williams asked Benjamin if she agrees with West. Benjamin argued that Obama's drone policy "terrorizes entire nations," calling it the "best recruiting tool for extremists organizations" while hurting the safety of the United States. Williams grilled Benjamin on why it threatens Americans when the government sends out drones to take out dangerous terrorists. Benjamin highlighted the innocents killed by the drone strikes, arguing that every time a drone kills an innocent person, more people will start joining al-Qaeda. Williams told Benjamin what she's saying is "not true,"

Pollution is a clear danger to the Communist Party's legitimacy. China is reaching its physical limits. Bankocracy's War Against the People

PFC Manning - Aiding the enemy or American public?
If Pfc. Bradley Manning is convicted of 'aiding the enemy,' it could be the end of whistleblowing as we know it in the United States Armed Forces. This video, entitled "Aiding the Enemy," is to raise awareness of the dangers posed to the American public by leveling this charge at Bradley Manning, and recruit people to our campaign urging Major General Michael Linnington to drop the charge immediately. Manning written testimony Feb. 2013: "The dehumanized the individuals they were engaging and seemed to not value human life by referring to them as quote “dead bastards” unquote and congratulating each other on the ability to kill in large numbers. At one point in the video there is an individual on the ground attempting to crawl to safety. The individual is seriously wounded. Instead of calling for medical attention to the location, one of the aerial weapons team crew members verbally asks for the wounded person to pick up a weapon so that he can have a reason to engage. For me, this seems similar to a child torturing ants with a magnifying glass.
While saddened by the aerial weapons team crew’s lack of concern about human life, I was disturbed by the response of the discovery of injured children at the scene. In the video, you can see that the bongo truck driving up to assist the wounded individual. In response the aerial weapons team crew — as soon as the individuals are a threat, they repeatedly request for authorization to fire on the bongo truck and once granted they engage the vehicle at least six times.
Shortly after the second engagement, a mechanized infantry unit arrives at the scene. Within minutes, the aerial weapons team crew learns that children were in the van and despite the injuries the crew exhibits no remorse. Instead, they downplay the significance of their actions, saying quote "Well, it's their fault for bringing their kids into a battle" unquote. -- The aerial weapons team crew members sound like they lack sympathy for the children or the parents. Later in a particularly disturbing manner, the aerial weapons team verbalizes enjoyment at the sight of one of the ground vehicles driving over a body -- or one of the bodies."

America's criminal legacy in Bush Iraq War

Another special forces veteran, Colonel James Coffman, worked with Steele and reported directly to General David Petraeus, who had been sent into Iraq to organise the Iraqi security services.

An alternative view of Memorial Day
This Memorial Day (May 28) we must remember those leaders who lied to us and the dead soldiers, enticing them into war to enrich the Military Industrial Congressional comples. It is time for Christians to slay the golden calf of the military. Christians should stop joining the military. They should stop encouraging their young men to enlist. They should stop being military chaplains and medics. American churches must be demilitarized. A CA hillside flows with the pain, tears of War
MEMORIAL DAY is every day on a hillside in this northern California town of Lafayette, crowded with a giant field of crosses, one for every American soldier killed in our occupation of Iraq. One of crosses includes the name of Cindy Sheehan's son, Casey, an early fatality. This slide show is set to the passionate song "Memorial Day" written and performed by Laura Zucker of Lafayette (www.laurazucker.com/). The compilation of photos put to music is by Ko Blix of Berkeley, California (http://gallery.me.com/kofotofactory). With photo contributions by Chris Donton, Lynn MacMichaels and others.
