After years of effort, we are now down to the final weeks when the fate of the Buena Vista Creek Valley will be decided. The first formal hearing to consider the proposed 656 unit McMillin development called Quarry Creek is scheduled for Wed Feb 6. There is a lot we can and must do before then to make sure everyone who cares about preserving this priceless valley is heard. What Can YOU Do to Help Save It? One way is to consider making a donation to Preserve Calavera, which will be matched up to $5,000, by Jan. 31.

For the last several years, the SD VFP have been scouting out the homeless in San Diego, found under freeway overpasses and in parks and secluded hideaways. Merchants and charitable people contribute to the free program.

On March 26, the court will review a California ban on gay marriage, which voters narrowly approved in 2008. The Draft EIR for this abominable project was issued and the deadline for comment has expired. The decision will be made in early 2013, but what will it be? Will we be able to preserve the panhandle and the heart of the valley? Or will McMillin get their way and build 656 homes and destroy the heritage of this area? Preserve Calavera, a small, all-volunteer environmental organization, needs your help to protect this area. |
