Bill Clinton re-ignites progressive spirit of Ariz With the "papers please" provision of Arizona's controversial SB 1070 immigration law now in effect, Bill Clinton roused an overflowing crowd at Arizona State University last week with a special shout out to the state's "dreamers," the highly organized ranks of undocumented youth seeking permanent residency either through education or the military (and sometimes both). Appearing on behalf of the former Surgeon General Richard Carmona, whose surging campaign to become the first Latino Senator in Arizona now leads in the latest polls, Clinton drew some of his biggest cheers for his support of the DREAM Act merely by calling it the "right thing to do." -- Bill Clinton has re-ignited the unstoppable new spirit of Arizona. Sunday, 10/21/2012 An attorney for The Utility Reform Network, a consumer advocacy group, says that the uncertainty surrounding San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station's future is creating real headaches for the long term and that Edison is being extremely hush-hush about its restart plans for the plant. Normally, Edison holds confidential meeting with the PUC to keep them in the know, but, Freedman says, there hasn’t been any sign that that is happening. -- CPUC rules require that once a plant is shut down for nine months, then the utility must file a notice with the commission explaining the plan to fix it. November will be the nine-month mark. Articles & News: Help San Elijo Conservancy Preserve Gateway Park News The San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy website requests you to become part of an historic campaign to create Gateway Park. Book of the Month-Oct! News Silent Spring Turns 50! A global effort to protect the environment was sparked 50 years ago on September 27, 1962, by the publication of Rachel Carson's Silent Spring. When Carson died two years later at the age of 56, she left a substantial bequest to the Sierra Club, including royalties from future sales of Silent Spring.
