This 'N ThatIs it progress if a cannibal uses a knife and fork? - Stanislaw LemHe that cannot forgive others, breaks the bridge over which he must pass himself; for every man has a need to be forgiven. - Lord Herbert If I can't dance I don't want to be part of your revolution. - Emma Goldman The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge. - Bertrand Russell War is an act of violence pushed to its utmost limits. - Major General Carl von Clausewitz, 1832 We must have research for peace ... It would embrace the outstanding problems of morality. The time has come for man's intellect, his scientific method, to win over the immoral brutality and irrationality of war and militarism ... Now we are forced to eliminate from the world forever this vestige of prehistoric barbarism, this curse to the human race. - Linus Pauling They make a desert and call it peace. - Tactitus When nothing seems to help, I go look at a stonecutter hammering away at a rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundredth blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it but all that had gone before. - Jacob Riis The pens which write against disarmament are made with the same steel from which guns are made. - Aristide Briand, French statesman, Nobel Peace Prize, 1926 An act of love, a voluntary taking on oneself of some of the pain of the world, increases the courage and love and hope of all. - Dorothy Day Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal. - Martin Luther King, Jr. To resort to power one need not be violent, and to speak to conscience one need not be meek. The most effective action both resorts to power and engages conscience. Nonviolent actions does not have to get others to be nice. It can in effect force them to consult their consciences. Nor does it have to petition those in power to do something about a situation. It can face the authorities with a new fact and say: Accept this new situation which we have created. - Barbara Deming Instead of tug o' war, let's play hug o' war. - Shel Silverstein I am part and parcel of the whole and cannot find God apart from the rest of humanity. - Mohandas Gandhi Peace is an environment where conflicts are resolved without violence, where people are free, not exploited, living so they can grow to their full potential. - Gerard Vanderhaar Talk less, say more, - Hate less, love more, That's all nonviolence is - organized love. - Joan Baez Each person has inside a basic decency and goodness. If he listens to it and acts on it, he is giving a great deal of what it is the world needs most. It is not complicated but it takes courage. It takes courage for a person to listen to his own goodness and act on it. - Pablo Casals There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that they grow up in peace. - Kofi A. Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations Women prevent the threads of life from being broken. The finest minds have always understood the peacemaking role of women. - Mikhail Gorbachev Respectful dialogue, in the interest of searching for more complete truth, is considerably more productive than arguing for the purity of position. - Gerard Vanderhaar . . . [T]o live not with hands clenched to grasp, to strike, to hold tight to a life that is always slipping away the more tightly we hold it, but . . . to live with the hands stretched out both to give and receive with gladness. - (Carl) Frederick Buechner I expect to pass through this world but once, therefore any good that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not come this way again. - Stephen Grellett 1773-1855 I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. - Albert Einstein Your life and my life flow into each other as wave flows into wave, and unless there is peace and joy and freedom for you, there can be no real peace or joy or freedom for me. To see reality--not as we expect it to be but as it is--is to see that unless we live for each other and in and through each other, we do not really live very satisfactorily; that there can really be life only where there really is, in just this sense, love. - (Carl) Frederick Buechner All violence consists in some people forcing others, under threat of suffering or death, to do what the do not want to do. - Leo Tolstoy Taking the first footstep with a good thought, the second with a good word, and the third with a good deed, I entered paradise. - Zoroaster If you succumb to the temptation of using violence in the struggle, unborn generations will be the recipients of a long and desolate night of bitterness, and your chief legacy to the future will be an endless reign of meaningless chaos. - Martin Luther King Jr. Through Gandhi and my own life experience, I have learned about nonviolence. I believe that human life is a very special gift from God, and that no one has a right to take that away in any cause, however just. I am convinced that nonviolence is more powerful than violence. - Cesar Chavez There is no such thing as defeat in non-violence. - Cesar Chavez Only when there are many people who are pools of peace, silence, understanding, will war disappear. - Osho (1931-1990) It is easier to fight for one's principles than to live up to them. - Alfred Adler In 1989, thirteen nations comprising 1,695,000 people experienced nonviolent revolutions that succeeded beyond anyone's wildest expectations . . . If we add all the countries touched by major nonviolent actions in our century (the Philippines, South Africa . . . the independence movement in India . . .) the figure reaches 3,337,400,000, a staggering 65% of humanity! All this in the teeth of the assertion, endlessly repeated, that nonviolence doesn't work in the 'real' world. - Walter Wink Peace is more important than all justice; and peace was not made for the sake of justice, but justice for the sake of peace. - Martin Luther (1483-1546) A solid rock is not disturbed by the wind; even so, a wise person is not agitated by praise or blame. - Dhammapada The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. - Alvin Toffler By doing service, heart and mind are purified -- be convinced of this! To engage in service is a very powerful sadhana (spiritual discipline); do not become impatient. Rather serve your people with the utmost calm and have a kind word for everyone. - Sri Anandamayee Ma Observe good faith and justice toward all nations. Cultivate peace and harmony with all. - George Washington America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. - Abraham Lincoln A peace that comes from fear and not from the heart is the opposite of peace. - Gersonides The two kinds of people who exist in this world [at any one time] are the decent and the indecent. Color, religion and nationality are irrelevant. Kindness, decency and behavior are what matters most. Our collective challenge, it seems, is to create a city and community where decent people of all races, ethnicities and religions can look into the faces of other decent people and see only one thing -- God's image smiling back. - Rabbi Micah Greenstein |

Obama's vast drone killing operation Article By Glenn Greenwald - A Washington Post article describes the complete secrecy behind which this is all being carried out and notes: "no president has ever relied so extensively on the secret killing of individuals to advance the nation's security goals." Here is the first beautifully revealing passage:
NCT starts off 2012 with rabid warmonger's rant News The North County Times published on Jan. 1 what may be the most hate filled, rabid war mongering commentary ever published in the paper. How Many U.S. Soldiers Were Wounded in Iraq? Wrong News Reports about the end of the war in Iraq routinely describe the toll on the U.S. military the way the Pentagon does: 4,487 dead, and 32,226 wounded. - The death count is accurate. But the wounded figure wildly understates the number of American servicemembers who have come back from Iraq less than whole. - The true number of military personnel injured over the course of our nine-year-long fiasco in Iraq is in the hundreds of thousands -- maybe even more than half a million -- if you take into account all the men and women who returned from their deployments with traumatic brain injuries, post-traumatic stress, depression, hearing loss, breathing disorders, diseases, and other long-term health problems.
European Austerity – Is this 1931 All Over Again? Article A young German economist sees strong parallels between the imposition of austerity and unrealistic economic policies used in Germany back in the 1930's, and the same policies being used in today's Europe, especially in Greece, Spain and Italy. Fabian Linder warns the same explosive popular reaction could result today, imperiling modern social and economic structure. Provocative arguments. The people can be pushed only so far and revolution will explode.
President Obama Richly Deserves to Be Dumped Article As evidence of a failed Obama presidency accumulates, criticism of his administration is mounting from liberal Democrats who have too much moral authority to be ignored. -- Most prominent among these critics is veteran journalist Bill Moyers, whose October address to a Public Citizen gathering puts the lie to our barely Democratic president's populist pantomime, acted out last week in a Kansas speech decrying the plight of “innocent, hardworking Americans."
'Million Tent Protest' in D.C. on Jan 17 News OCCUPY San Diego will travel to Washington, DC for a massive "Million Tent Protest" on Jan. 17, 2012. This will be a giant fun festival to show the Government we are not the enemy.
Where the Real Jobs Are - Green Energy. Article Editorial - NEW YORK TIMES - "Republicans claim that the Keystone Pipeline will create tens of thousands of new jobs — 20,000 according to House Speaker John Boehner and 100,000 according to Jon Huntsman — are wildly inflated. A more accurate forecast from the federal government, one with which TransCanada, the pipeline company, agrees, says the project would create 6,000 to 6,500 temporary construction jobs at best, for two years. -- American voters are smart enough to see through the ridiculous pipeline gambit. And they will surely listen if Mr. Obama makes a compelling argument for both protecting the environment and investing in clean energy industries that will create lasting jobs."
84 year old woman pepper sprayed in Seattle Occupy
Nation shocked by Seattle police - Activist Dorli Rainey, 84, reacts after being hit with pepper spray during an Occupy Seattle protest on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Westlake Park. The naked face of a police state in America
Police pepper spraying and arresting students at UC Davis - In this video, now gone viral nationwide, a group of college students are huddled on the ground in a defensive position at UC Davis on November 18. UC police Lt. John Pike, then casually douses them with a chemical agent. Bystanders who were simply watching what was going on are also exposed. - If the police had legal grounds to make arrests, it seems apparent from the video that little or no force was necessary to achieve that goal. The students are obviously not a threat to the officers. It appears that the heavily armored riot police could have simply grabbed them and put them in flexi-cuffs had they chosen to do so. That means that this entire assault appears to be a perfect example of excessive force. WmJmmnMkuEM Bradley Manning lifted the Fog of War News By Amy Goodman - Manning described the leak as "one of the more significant documents of our time, removing the fog of war and revealing the true nature of 21st century asymmetrical warfare." Accused whistle-blower Pvt. Bradley Manning turned 24 Saturday. He spent his birthday in a pretrial military hearing that could ultimately lead to a sentence of life … or death. US Constitution eviscerated while Democrats watch
ROCKY ANDERSON - "This the right progressive man with the fighting spirit to be our next president! "The Constitution Has Been Eviscerated While Democrats Have Stood By... GUTLESS!" Rocky Anderson is running for president on the Justice Party ticket.
Opressive government trying to crush U.S. soldier
Democracy Now! interviews constitutional lawyer and Salon.com blogger Glenn Greenwald about the military pre-trial hearing now underway for alleged U.S. Army whistleblower Bradley Manning. "All the Manning hearings have been shrouded in secrecy," Greenwald says, noting there may be more transparency in Guantánamo detainee hearings than there has been for the Manning tribunal." - Manning is trying to do whatever he can to avoid having his life destroyed: Either being killed by the state or locked up in a cage for the rest of his life.

Cohn, past president of the National Lawyers Guild, stated "If Bradley Manning had committed war crimes, not exposed them, he would be a free man today."

World Economic Collapse explained in 3 minutes
Witty dialogue, profound explanation of today's economic conundrum, a spiral that could collapse the world economy. Ted Olson Interview With Fox News Chris Wallace
Wallace, insinuating that Gay Marriage is judicial activism, asks where is it in the Constitution that permits gay mariage. "Where is the right to interracial marriage in the Constitution" asked Ted Olsen of Wallace. Brilliant arguments by Olson. When Wallace insists the voters have the right to outlaw gay marriage, Olson asks if it would be constitutional for the voters to force blacks to drink at separate water fountains. King, 'Why I Am Opposed to the War in Vietnam' Article YouTube = CHANGE = Martin Luther King's most controversial speech, which won him the enmity of the FBI, CIA and the military industrial complex. April 30, 1967.
Back then Life magazine called it "demagogic slander that sounded like a script for Radio Hanoi." The Washington Post patronized that "King has diminished his usefulness to his cause, his country, his people."
If Martin Luther King were alive today, O'Reilly would call him a "co-conspirator with Julian Assange". Beck would call him a "social justice junkie" and a "socialist" with "anti-American" views. Hannity would accuse him of having "sympathy for the enemy" and Limbaugh would say "this man is a racist who is using the acts of a few to condemn the entire white race". We celebrate his birthday Monday, Jan. 17. Dwight D. Eisenhower -
President Dwight D. Eisenhower speaks on the insanity of war.
Will humanity ever learn?
