Bradley Manning, who is accused of leaking a trove of documents to WikiLeaks, faces serious court-martial charges, including aiding the enemy. Under one of the most fundamental of all rights, he is presumed innocent until legal and competent evidence overcomes that presumption beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. But Pres. Obama unfairly tilted the scales of justice against Manning by declaring publicly at a fund raiser in San Francisco that Bradley Manning is guilty. Justice is truth in action. Peace comes from being able to contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone. But it is also securing the space for others to contibute the best that they have and all that they are. Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And when you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Out of clutter, find simplicity. From discord, find harmony. In the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity. In every child who is born, no matter what circumstances, and of no matter what parents, the potentiality of the human race is born again: and in him, too, once more, and of each of us, our terrific responsibility toward human life; toward the utmost idea of goodness, of the horror of terror, and of God. By logic and reason we die hourly. By imagination we live. Violence just hurts those who are already hurt...Instead of exposing the brutality of the oppressor, it justifies it. I am part and parcel of the whole and cannot find God apart from the rest of humanity. Peace we want because there is another war to fight against poverty, disease and ignorance. Nothing is so strong as gentleness; nothing so gentle as real strength. If we work in marble, it will perish; if we work upon brass, time will efface it; if we rear temples, they will crumble into dust; but if we work upon immortal minds and instill into them just principles, we are then engraving upon tablets which no time will efface, but will brighten and brighten to all eternity. Each person has inside a basic decency and goodness. If he listens to it and acts on it, he is giving a great deal of what it is the world needs most. It is not complicated but it takes courage. It takes courage for a person to listen to his own goodness and act on it. Murder and capital punishment are not opposites that cancel one another, but similars that breed their kind. It is the deed that teaches not the name we give it. Dare to be naive. When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall -- think of it, ALWAYS! No one has a right to sit down and feel hopeless. There is too much work to do. When will our consciences grow so tender that we will act to prevent human misery rather than avenge it? We plant seeds that will flower as results in our lives, so best to remove the weeds of anger, avarice, envy and doubt, that peace and abundance may manifest for all. We should take care, in inculcating patriotism into our boys and girls, that is a patriotism above the narrow sentiment which usually stops at one's country, and thus inspires jealousy and enmity in dealing with others... Our patriotism should be of the wider, nobler kind which recognises justice and reasonableness in the claims of others and which lead our country into comradeship with...the other nations of the world. The first step to this end is to develop peace and goodwill within our borders, by training our youth of both sexes to its practice as their habit of life, so that the jealousies of town against town, class against class and sect against sect no longer exist; and then to extend this good feeling beyond our frontiers towards our neighbours. At all the times you can, The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality. Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. Obama egregiously violates the constitutional right of Bradley Manning, but has the temerity to declare that Bradley Manning "broke the law." So Obama declares Manning guilty, throws him into prison where he is tortured for 10 months without a trial. LISTEN: "We're a nation of laws. We don't individually make our decisions about how the laws operate." Finally, before removing himself from the conversation, he says Manning "dumped" information and "it wasn't the same thing" as what Daniel Ellsberg did because what Ellsberg leaked "wasn't classified in the same way."
