March on prison to support Bradley Manning Sunday, 03/20/2011 A major demonstration against the imprisonment of Bradley Manning, will march on the prison at Quantico, Virginia, on March 20, anniversary of the start of the Bush War against the Iraqi people. This 'N ThatCapitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men, for the nastiest of reasons, will somehow work for the benefit of us all. - John Maynard KeynesWe can’t become nonviolent on the basis of intellectual conviction. Commitment to nonviolence demands a very profound conversion of mind and heart. If we take the time to pray with Jesus, we too will be converted in mind and heart. It won’t work if we try to reason it out. The only way is through a change of heart, a coming into a way of being that is the way of Jesus. - Bishop Thomas Gumbleton You can no more win a war than win an earthquake. - Jeanette Rankin The direct use of force is such a poor solution to any problem, it is generally employed only by small children and large nations. - David Friedman If peace . . . only had the music and pageantry of war, there'd be no wars. - Sophie Kerr Violence produces only something resembling justice, but it distances people from the possibility of living justly, without violence. - Leo Tolstoy All violence consists in some people forcing others, under threat of suffering or death, to do what the do not want to do. - Leo Tolstoy When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart. - John Wesley Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of creative alternatives for responding to conflict -- alternatives to passive or aggressive responses, alternatives to violence. - Dorothy Thompson Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. - Matthew 5:3 Someday they'll give a war and nobody will come. - Carl Sandburg When someone steals another's clothes, we call them a thief. Should we not give the same name to one who could clothe the naked and does not? The bread in your cupboard belongs to the hungry; the coat unused in your closet belongs to the one who needs it; the shoes rotting in your closet belong to the one who has no shoes; the money which you hoard up belongs to the poor. - Basil the Great Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them. - Ralph Waldo Emerson Freedom is actually a bigger game than power. Power is about what you can control. Freedom is about what you can unleash. - Harriet Rubin It is not your obligation to complete your work, but you are not at liberty to quit. - Talmud When we treat man as he is, we make him worse than he is; when we treat him as if he already were what he potentially could be, we make him what he should be. - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe Hitler and Mussolini were only the primary spokesmen for the attitude of domination and craving for power that are in the heart of almost everyone. Until the source is cleared, there will always be confusion and hate, wars and class antagonisms. - J. Krishnamurti For it isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it. - Eleanor Roosevelt We are going to have to find ways of organizing ourselves cooperatively, sanely, scientifically, harmonically and in regenerative spontaneity with the rest of humanity around the earth.... We are not going to be able to operate our spaceship earth successfully nor for much longer unless we see it as a whole spaceship and our fate as common. - Buckminster Fuller We used to wonder where war lived, what it was that made it so vile. And now we realize that we know where it lives, that it is inside ourselves. - Albert Camus Sometime in your life, hope that you might see one starved man, the look on his face when the bread finally arrives. Hope that you might have baked it or bought or even kneaded it yourself. For that look on his face, for your meeting his eyes across a piece of bread, you might be willing to lose a lot, or suffer a lot, or die a little, even. - Daniel Berrigan, SJ Gandhi once declared that it was his wife who unwittingly taught him the effectiveness of nonviolence. Who better than women should know that battles can be won without resort to physical strength? Who better than we should know all the power that resides in noncooperation? - Barbara Deming Whenever you are in doubt or when the self becomes too much with you, try the following experiment: Recall the face of the poorest and most helpless person you have ever seen and ask yourself if the step you contemplate is going to be for any use to him or to her . . . Then you will find your doubts and your self melting away. - Mohandas Gandhi We challenge the culture of violence when we ourselves act in the certainty that violence is no longer acceptable, that it's tired and outdated no matter how many cling to it in the stubborn belief that it still works and that it's still valid. - Gerard Vanderhaar All social life is essentially practical. All mysterious which lead theory to mysticism find their rational solution in human practice and in the comprehension of the practice. - Karl Marx Justice is truth in action. - Benjamin Disraeli The belief that we some day shall be able to prevent war is to me one with the belief in the possibility of making humanity really human. - Ellen Key, 1916 |

U.S. caught in Big Lie over spy arrested in Pakis. News So desperate has been the US effort to get the US government killer Raymond Davis sprung from police custody in Lahore, Pakistan following his execution-style slaughter of two Pakistani intelligence operatives in broad daylight in a crowded commercial area, that the government trotted out President Obama to declare that Pakistan was violating the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations by holding "our diplomat." The Truth: Raymond Davis is a private contractor spy, not an employee of the CIA. Also the State Dept. tried to exchange his regular passport for a diplomatic one a day after his arrest, again retroactively trying to get him immunity from prosecution for his murderous acts. The governor of Konar, Fazlullah Wahidi, disagreed, citing reports from villagers that dozens of women and children perished. Karzai's office placed the civilian death toll at 50. The My Lai Massacre - our Vietnam day of ignomy Article One of the worst war crimes ever committed by the United States was the My Lai Massacre in Vietnam, 43 years ago. From that day came a monster villain, Lt. William Calley, and a noble hero, Hugh Thompson, who stopped the mass killing. Thompson is hero to many vets. The San Diego Veterans for Peace named their chapter after him. By Chuck Palazzo Ted Olson Interview With Fox News Chris Wallace
Wallace, insinuating that Gay Marriage is judicial activism, asks where is it in the Constitution that permits gay mariage. "Where is the right to interracial marriage in the Constitution" asked Ted Olsen of Wallace. Brilliant arguments by Olson. When Wallace insists the voters have the right to outlaw gay marriage, Olson asks if it would be constitutional for the voters to force blacks to drink at separate water fountains. |
