The Implausible Bill Horn
By K-B Gressitt of Fallbrook: "Taxpayer dollars cannot be used to promote religious doctrine, so just how stupid do we have to be to buy the line that Bill Horn can, instead, fund fund-raisers that fund religious doctrine? Implausibly stupid. Or, put another way, as stupid as Bill Horn thinks we are. This is the same Candidate Horn who was overheard in 1995 saying it didn't matter what he promised on the campaign trail, because the voters wouldn’t remember once he was in office. Horn gave $5,000 to the Santa Margarita Gun Club in 2009 for "ammunition, food, and travel costs including accommodations for the Gun Club's trip to a national tournament in Camp Petty, Ohio." HOWARD DEAN: Stand up to the GOP bullies
Howard Dean: "Stand up for what you believe in... After the year and a half this country has just been through, it is pretty obvious that the right-wing has no intention of cooperating with anyone, and that they will do anything to regain power... The only reasonable approach is to stand up to them as you would any group of bullies. Call them out for what they do... I have often said the biggest problem with the Democrats is that we are not tough enough. Now is the time to be tough." Read More

Non-violence, which is the quality of the heart, cannot come by an appeal to the brain.

Not for kudos and not for cash, your picture in the paper nor money in the bank, neither. Just refuse to bear them.

In 1989, thirteen nations comprising 1,695,000 people experienced nonviolent revolutions that succeeded beyond anyone's wildest expectations . . . If we add all the countries touched by major nonviolent actions in our century (the Philippines, South Africa . . . the independence movement in India . . .) the figure reaches 3,337,400,000, a staggering 65% of humanity! All this in the teeth of the assertion, endlessly repeated, that nonviolence doesn't work in the 'real' world.

If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Wherever you are, if you are following your bliss, you are enjoying that refreshment, that life within you, all the time.

You know, if people are not pacifists, it's not their fault. It's because society puts them in that spot. You've got to change it. You don't just change a man - you've got to change his environment as you do it.

ZOLTAN LUCAS: Corporate socialism rules nation
Dr. Zoltan Lucas of Oceanside refutes masterfully the false notion that our nation is in mortal danger of big government's takeover, showing that the takeover is by mega corporations. The danger is not government socialism, but corporate socialism -- government of the corporation, by the corporation and for the corporation, to the detriment of we the people.

A 'villain' greater even than Daniel Ellsberg
Those who oppose war and militarism need to stand with people like Bradley Manning, the 22-year old Army private who believed he saw war crimes being committed by the U.S. military. He shared the information so the American public could know what the U.S. military was doing. The most famous leak from Manning was the "Collateral Murder" video shared on the Wikileaks.org website. The video he reportedly leaked showed a U.S. military Apache helicopter attack killing a dozen civilians and wounding two children.

Five myths about unemployment
One of the loudest and most frequent myths is that "The nation can't afford to add billions more to the national debt!" Why this is a fallacious myth. Four other myths.

Can a cop really lose such complete self-control?
A soul-pounding poem by Kit-Bacon Gressitt of Fallbrook dramatizes the injustice against the citizens of Oakland and America the LA court decision that the murder of an innocent man in a subway station by a BART officer was "involuntary manslaughter." - LINK: "Excuse me, I'm writing"

Hiroshima: A criminal act on epic scale,

65 years ago - Historic Ignomy

The US dropped the first atomic bomb on August 6, 1945 in Hiroshima. The atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a criminal act on an epic scale. It was premeditated mass murder that unleashed a weapon of intrinsic criminality. For this reason its apologists have sought refuge in the mythology of the ultimate "good war", whose "ethical bath", as Richard Drayton called it, has allowed the west not only to expiate its bloody imperial past but to promote 60 years of rapacious war, always beneath the shadow of The Bomb. By John Pilger

How brutally a gay soldier was abused by his own
Joseph Christopher Rocha was brutalized by his fellow soldiers because they though he was gay: "I was hosed down and tied to chairs. I was force fed dog food. I was left in a dog kennel full of feces, with military dogs. I have been hog tied. I was forced to simulate gay sex on camera along with other forms of humiliation for 28 months, while I was serving in the Middle East. The level of isolation I felt without my loved ones or the freedom to write and talk with people on the phone, like the other service members, made it even worse."

Catholic policy: Deny life-saving abortions
In our last e-newsletter of The ProgressivePost was an article about the unlawful action of a Catholic hospital in Phoenix which disciplined a nurse, for facilitating an abortion for a life-saving abortion to a young mother of four who was 11 weeks pregnant and dying from pulmonary hypertension. The story gained nationwide attention. Now, In an outrageous move, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has told all Catholic hospitals to withhold emergency reproductive care from dying women. Federal law says that when a person's life is at risk, emergency rooms at every single hospital in the country are required to provide treatment. READ this update from the ACLU:

GOP bitter Medicine won't cure - It will KILL!
British Prime Minister David Cameron is ordering cuts of 25 to 40 percent in almost all departments in a drastic move to reduce debt. The consequences? The National Housing Federation says the number of homeless people will double as a result of their slashing of housing benefit. Half a million children living below the poverty line will have their only nutritious meal stopped. And worse: the economy will shrink and Britain's debt will balloon. Such is conservative medicine. ISSA: Another scandal (money, of course)
ProgressivePost wants be sure that you know about this appeal to support the challenger to Darrell Issa, the richest man in Congress who purports to represent the 49th Congressional District (north San Diego County and Southwest Riverside County), which has one of the highest rates of home foreclosure, as well as military personnel/families in residence. Can Issa identify with his constituents? This is the latest SCANDAL about ISSA:

Issa, Bilbray & ilk hang themselves in public

Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner exploded in the House on Thursday, in a fiery speech that has rocked the whole political world. Weiner's passion has jarred the media with its raw expose of Republican meanness by defeating the bill to provide health care for the 911 emergency responders in New York. This bill, in the works for eight years, was defeated by the NO votes of Darrell Issa, Brian Bilbray and their Republican ilk. See story HERE, in the GUARDIAN.

US airmen deliberately mow down Iraqi civilians

The war crimes exposed in this smuggled video may land Army private Bradley Manning in prison for 52 years. The scope of the material released by the private may be more damaging than the Pentagon Papers released by Daniel Ellsberg during Vietnam. The video shows a group of men walking down the street before being repeatedly shot by the Apache helicopters. The American gunners can be heard laughing and referring to the men as "dead bastards." The classified video was taken from the cockpit during a 2007 fire fight and posted last April on the website Wikileaks.org.

Afghan Police caught smoking dope before battle

Pot-Smoking Afghan National Police Caught on Film A member of the 82nd Airborne Division recorded this clip above of Afghan National Police puffing on a hash pipe before going out on patrol. In an interview with Al Jazeera correspondent Clayton Swisher, US soldiers don't feel as threatened by the drug-dazed ANP but find them "silly" and have a hard time getting them to be quiet and to focus. This is the group that President Karzai says will be able to take over full responsibilities for security from ISAF soldiers by 2014.

London police office escapes punishment for death

The police officer caught on video striking newspaper seller Ian Tomlinson with a baton and pushing him to the street during last year's G20 protests in London. Tomlinson died after the G20 demonstrations on 1 April 2009 in central London. The official account, that he died from a heart attack, was challenged when the Guardian obtained video footage showing a riot officer striking the 47-year-old with a baton and pushing him to the ground shortly before he collapsed and died. The officer will not be charged. Case closed. Did the police lie?
