The Obama administration may get a health care bill passed, but because it has let conservatives define the debate, it will be a bill that is written in the dark, in willful, near-lunatic denial of reality. My faith is a source of strength and comfort to me, as religious beliefs are to hundreds of millions of people around the world. So my decision to sever my ties with the Southern Baptist Convention, after six decades, was painful and difficult. Suspect in sailor's death found dead

A sailor charged with killing and burning Seaman August Provost during an arson attack at Camp Pendleton on June 30 was found dead in the base's brig Friday afternoon, the Navy said in a news release. Petty Officer Jonathan Campos, 32, of Lancaster apparently died of self-inflicted asphyxiation, said Brian O'Rourke, a spokesman for Navy Region Southwest. San Diego Union Tribune
