Meet and greet Robin Long, war resister and prisoner of conscience. He'll make his first public speech since his release from the Brig at Miramar. This event is on Sunday, July 12, but the deadline to RSVP is July 10.

Final vigil for Robin Long, to be freed from brig

Robin Long, GI war resister and prisoner of conscience, will be released finally on July 9 from the brig at MCAS Miramar. As a show of continual support for him, a last vigil will be held on July 7 at Miramar.

Memorial vigil for murdered Pendleton seaman

Memorial candlelight vigil for Seaman August Provost, shot and killed on Pendleton last week. Vigil is Friday, July 10, outside Camp Pendleton at 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm.

Second Saturday Monthly Trail Work at Village H in Calavera Hills. Join the city of Carlsbad trail volunteers for trail restoration work along a new section of trail through Village H (not the area now surrounded by fencing).

Buena Vista Creek Valley Restoration Work Session

This is one of our regular monthly work sessions to support our 1.8 acre restoration site. Come and learn how easy it is to care for native plants, whether in this restoration area or in your own backyard. A small grant given for this project requires lots of volunteer work-and that means you!

Poetry, prose reading in Fallbrook

Fallbrook's Writers Read, a free monthly gathering of writers and readers, invites the community to a Midsummer Night's Reading on Wednesday 15 July, at 6 p.m., at the Café des Artistes. Writers are encouraged to bring their original poetry, short fiction and creative nonfiction for an evening of reading, a glass of wine, a little supper if they'r
